Citroen C3 Aircross SUV Makes Official Debut in India; Rivals Hyundai Creta

The new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV has made its global premiere in India as the brand’s third model for the country. Citroen C3 Aircross will go on sale in the second half of 2023.

The C3 Aircross is based on the CMP modular platform from the firm. It is the second product in the company’s C Cubed initiative that has been announced for India. It will be 4.3 metres long, which puts it on the level with the Creta. In style, the C3 Aircross takes obvious styling inspirations from the Citroen family.

The front badge is integrated into the grille and distinctive Y-shaped DRLs with the headlamps situated beneath. Even in fully-loaded form, the Aircross gets halogen headlamps, while most rivals offer full LEDs in their top-spec models. Higher-end models will get dual-tone exterior paint and massive 17-inch alloy wheels with an X-shaped design.

The dashboard design has been carried over intact from the C3 hatchback. But there are fresh colours and textures to add some difference. The 10-inch infotainment touchscreen is also intact. The wing mirrors can now be adjusted and the digital instrument cluster is enhanced over the C3’s basic arrangement. The top-spec trim has leatherette upholstery and soft cushioning on the door armrests.

The quality and equipment levels remain behind the category norms. Even on the top-spec trim, the lack of automated AC is a big oversight. It also lacks options like heated seats, wireless charging, and a sunroof. Because the 5+2-seater version has roof-mounted AC vents, there is no possibility of a sunroof.

A single 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine powers the Citroen C3 Aircross. This engine produces a max power of 110 hp and 190 Nm of peak torque. The C3 Aircross will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox but there may also be an automatic on offer.

The C3 Aircross will rival Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq. The C3 Aircross price will be announced in the second half of this year. Aggressive pricing will be critical in attracting purchasers.
