Citroen India is gearing up to unveil its third model in the C-cubed series, which is expected to be a stylish coupe-SUV based on the C3 Aircross. This new model, anticipated to rival Tata’s Curvv, is on schedule for a mid-2024 launch despite some delays.
Features and Design of Citroen C3X
Dubbed the C3X, this upcoming vehicle is set to redefine the sedan segment with its coupe-like roofline, notchback design reminiscent of the Skoda Superb, and crossover-inspired elements such as increased ride height and rugged body cladding. Positioned as an ‘SUV-coupe,’ the C3X aims to carve out a unique niche in the market.
Citroen has learned from its previous models and plans to launch the C3X with a more comprehensive feature set right from the start. Prospective buyers can expect enhancements like electric folding mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, LED headlamps, push-button start and keyless entry.
Powertrain and Performance
The C3X will share the C-Cubed platform with other models in the series, including the C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross. It will be powered by a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with manual or torque converter automatic transmission options. Additionally, an all-electric version is slated to join the lineup about six months after the launch of the petrol variant.
Launch Timeline and Competition
Citroen is expected to debut the C3X around June-July 2024, with the launch following a few months later. The electric version is anticipated to arrive by early 2025. While the C3X will compete with established models like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia, its unique crossover sedan styling and likely competitive pricing could help it stand out in the segment.
