Indian Oil Corporation Starts Home Delivery Of Diesel

Diesel Home Delivery Service Now Available in Pune: Indian Oil Corporation has started home delivery of diesel in Pune. They are expecting to expand this service nationwide in coming months. First mobile fuel dispenser that gets approval by Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation has been sent for action in the city.

This service can be quite beneficial for those who have large number of commercial vehicles that regularly wait outside pumps for their turns. This will save them time and also reduce congestion at fuel stations. The dispenser seen here comes with a can attached to it. That can help customers see the exact amount of fuel being dispensed from the machine.

Not just the cities, these trucks would be beneficial for areas where availability of fuel stations is not as good as cities. Farmers who need diesel for their everyday work could buy the same from these mobile dispensers and save time in travelling to nearest fuel stations.

As diesel is more in use for commercial purposes, it was selected ahead of petrol for this new initiative. Also, it is difficult to transport petrol and diesel can be handled easily. Indian Oil Corporation has cleared the fact that success of this scheme could also encourage them to bring petrol delivery option in the least possible time.

India is getting comfortable with home delivery of products, all thanks to the widespread network of e-commerce websites and portals. When it comes to fuel, things became quite sensitive as this commodity is highly taxed and cannot be left in hands of an invalid source that may use this as a weapon of destruction.

Fuel stations all over the country are not dispensing petrol or diesel in bottles as they feel that could lead to its misuse. It is yet to be seen if these dispensers will fill the fuel directly into fuel tanks or not. Also, no cost of transport was disclosed.
