India’s 1st Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing Facility Opens in Delhi: Amid Coronavirus pandemic, a private laboratory in Delhi has become the first facility in the country to offer sample collection for suspected coronavirus patients without any need for them to get out of their vehicles. By implementing this method, the person willing to give a sample will undergo minimum exposure to others and he/she will be able to provide the samples while following social distancing.
Dr Dangs Lab is the name of the facility in the West Punjabi Bagh area and it has been recently authorized by the government to conduct tests on the pandemic and they have successfully initiated the drive-through sample collection facility. The lab has set up some rules so that social distancing can be followed duly. The bookings for the test need to be made online here and the person has to submit a Government ID along with a Doctor’s prescription to get an appointment. A confirmation call from the lab will ensure that the request has been approved.

The person has to stay in the car during the test and the entire process will take around 15 minutes. It is also clearly mentioned that only private vehicles are allowed and patients cannot come in cabs, scooters or on foot. The patient has to be seated on the driver’s side of the car. To begin with, 30-40 slots are available each day and this number can be increased if it is required.
The drive-through facility for collecting samples has worked well in many countries across the world as it guarantees minimum exposure to the surroundings. Dr Dangs Laboratory is following strict safety protocols for a safe as well as hygienic drive-through sample collection. After every test, the technicians change their protective equipment and the entire test area is sanitized. The test costs INR 4500 and the results of the same are sent to the patient via e-mail within 36 hours of sample collection.
