Hyundai is reportedly testing an electric version of its popular Creta SUV. The prototype was spotted on the Himalayan Expressway without any camouflage. This suggests that the company is nearing the final stages of development.
The Creta EV is expected to be based on the current model on sale but with a few key differences. The most obvious change will be the powertrain, which will be replaced by electric motors and battery pack. The Creta EV is also expected to have a different front fascia and rear bumper, as well as aerodynamic wheels and bodywork.
The production version of the Hyundai Creta EV is still a few years away, but it is expected to hit showrooms in India by 2025. The EV is expected to be based on the next-generation Creta, which is scheduled to launch in 2023.
The prototype of the Hyundai Creta EV spotted has no exhaust pipes and no engine sound. It suggests that it might be powered by an electric motor. The prototype also has a protrusion under the body, which is likely to house the battery pack.

The E-GMP platform is Hyundai’s dedicated electric vehicle platform that underpins the Ioniq 5 and the Kona EV. It will also be used to underpin the upcoming Creta EV. By localizing the E-GMP platform, Hyundai aims to reduce the cost of its EVs and make them more accessible to a wider range of customers.
Hyundai is expected to launch its electric version of the Creta SUV in India in the price range of Rs. 20-25 lakhs. The Creta EV will compete with other electric SUVs in the market, such as the Tata Harrier EV, the Kia Seltos EV, and Maruti’s upcoming electric SUV.
