Exclusive: Tata Sierra EV Design Patented Ahead of Debut

Tata Motors is set to revive the iconic Sierra nameplate, a vehicle that left an indelible mark on the Indian automotive landscape when it was first launched in 1991. The original Sierra, known for its distinctive two-door SUV design and curved rear windows, was a trailblazer in its time. Fast forward to the present, Tata Motors is breathing new life into the Sierra legacy with the introduction of the Tata Sierra EV. Having showcased a 3-door concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and an evolved 5-door concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata Motors is gearing up for a significant leap in the electric vehicle (EV) space.  The overall stance looks inspired from the Land Rover Discovery. Notice the flush door handles on the side profile which could go into production. The alloy wheels look big and flashy with the busy design. There is a kink on the B-pillar, the lower-half of the body gets thick cladding and the C & D-pillars have a huge glass area for an airy cabin. The production version of the Sierra will look more or less the same with mild changes to make it a more practical looking SUV. The interior is expected to have a premium appeal as showcased in the concept version. It will be loaded with advanced features.

Tata Motors showcased the legendary Sierra SUV in its EV concept guise at the Auto Expo 2023 held in Delhi earlier this year. Now, the automaker has patented the exterior design of the upcoming Tata Sierra EV which looks closer to the production form.
