Fuel Price Hiked (Latest Update): Petrol and diesel prices have been increasing slowly day by day and people have started to become aware of the change. The prices have hit an all-time high today, with the price of petrol in Mumbai being INR 86.56 per litre while the price of diesel in Mumbai being INR 75.54 per litre on September 3, 2018. The lowest price that you can find today in any state is in Mizoram, with the prices of petrol being INR 75.05 per litre and diesel being INR 68.51 per litre. The mere difference in the prices shows how diverse the taxes are from state to state.

The scenario was quite different at the beginning of the year. The price of diesel in Mumbai on January 1, 2018, was INR 63.35 per litre while that of petrol was INR 77.87 per litre. The increase in prices goes on to show how much our economy has been affected by the price of the US Dollar. Just one month ago, on August 3, 2018, the price of petrol in Mumbai was INR 83.94 per litre while that of diesel was INR 72.21 per litre. The increase in about INR 3 per litre in just a month represents the rate of inflation on a basic necessity like fuel.
