Google-Powered OnePlus TV to Launch in India this Month

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is soon going to enter the business of smart TVs and its first product, OnePlus TV, will be launched in India in the coming weeks. The company recently confirmed the speculations that it will soon be bringing its QLED 55-inch smart TV. The much-awaited smart TV is being teased on Amazon.in and the “Notify Me” button is already active for the interested buyers. The product will be hitting the Indian market this month.

The company notified through a tweet saying, “Upgrade to an unparalleled viewing experience with a 55” QLED display on the OnePlus TV”. The tweet also included a link to the page to Amazon where the product has been listed. Amazon has already started the registration for the interested customers. Previously we saw that OnePlus unboxed the logo of its first smart TV and also told that it will be called OnePlus TV.

In an interview, the CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau explained how OnePlus TV is better as compared to its competitors and gave a little peek into the features of the smart TV. He said, “One more key selling point that I want to highlight is that we are really optimising the Android TV system which I don’t see a lot of brands in Indian market [doing]. Because of our great partnership with Google, not only do we use their Android TV system but we also optimise it very deeply.” He also added that the smart TV will be equipped with a revamped UI as compared to other Android TVs, giving an augmented exposure.

About the future ventures, the company said that it may also come up with 45-inches and 65-inches variants of the OnePlus TV and will compete with smart TVs like that of the Samsung, LG, and Sony.
