Indian Government Extends License and Registration Validity: According to recent reports, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India has extended the validity dates of the vehicle documents like license, registrations and permits that got expired after February 2020.
The coronavirus pandemic has made the authorities to announce nationwide lockdown. Thus the Indian citizens have been facing many serious troubles to get their registrations or other documents renewed at this point of time. Considering the decreased footfall and to offer relief to the citizens amidst the lockdown, the Indian Government has extended the validity date of the vehicle documents till June 30, 2020.
For instance, if a person’s driving licence or a car’s registration certificate has expired on February 1 or after that, the documents are now valid till 30th June 2020. The decisions have been finalised by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways while the state officials have been advised to pass on the new rules to the respective parties so as not to harass the citizens or transporters that are currently working on delivering the essential items to the people during the lockdown state.
The all-new notice issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways requests all the states to: “treat documents under MV Act & Rules, whose extension of validity could or not likely be processed due to lock-down and which have expired since 1st of February, 2020 or would expire by 30th of June 2020, as valid till 30th of June 2020.”
