Harley-Davidson is all set to launch its most affordable motorcycle, the X440. The launch will take place in India today (July 3, 2023). Harley-Davidson has partnered with Hero MotoCorp to develop the new X440.
The company has already shared images and a video of the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440. The photos reveal a motorcycle with a retro-inspired design. It features a round headlight with integrated Harley-Davidson branding. It shows a single-pod instrument cluster, a flat handlebar, and a side-slung exhaust. Machined alloy wheels and retro-style round indicators can also be seen in the photos. The mechanical specifications of the Harley-Davidson X440 are still limited. But we can make some educated guesses based on the information that has been released so far.
The X440 is expected to be powered by a 440cc single-cylinder, air and oil-cooled engine. This engine is likely to redline at 8,000 rpm, and it could produce around 30 horsepower and 35 Newton meters of torque. The suspension on the X440 is expected to consist of an upside-down fork up front and twin rear shocks. Disc brakes will handle braking on both wheels, and the bike is likely to come standard with dual-channel ABS.
As for safety features, the X440 is expected to have a side-stand engine cut-off function. This feature will prevent the engine from running when the side stand is down. A safety feature that is becoming common on recent motorcycles.
The X440 is expected to be priced in the range of INR 2.5 to 3 lakh. It will be available in two variants: a standard model and a more premium variant. The premium variant might come with alloy wheels and a few other cosmetic upgrades. It is expected to compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda H’ness CB350 in the Indian market.
