In a recent disclosure during a financial results meeting Mahindra shared details about the substantial backlog of pending orders for its various models shedding light on the challenges it faces in fulfilling customer demands. The total pending orders for Mahindra vehicles have reached an impressive figure of approximately 2.86 lakh, encompassing popular models like the Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Scorpio N, and Mahindra Thar.
Breaking down the pending orders by model, the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N models stand out with a combined total of 1,19,000 pending orders. Following closely are the Thar and XUV700, with pending orders ranging between 70,000 and 80,000. Additionally, Mahindra is yet to fulfill 11,000 units of the Bolero and Bolero Neo, while the XUV300 and XUV400 continue to have open bookings, totaling 10,000.
Examining the average waiting times for these SUVs in the top 20 cities, the Scorpio Classic has an average waiting period of 3.5 months, the Scorpio N stands at 6 months, the Thar at 4 months, and the XUV700 at a significant 7 months. On the other hand, the Bolero and Bolero Neo have a more manageable waiting period of 3 months, as do the XUV300 and XUV400, which stand at 4 months and 3.5 months, respectively.
Of particular note is that the Scorpio N and XUV700 are currently facing the lengthiest waiting periods among Mahindra vehicles, reaching up to seven months in the top 20 cities in India. In contrast, the Bolero and Bolero Neo have the shortest average waiting period, standing at three months.
Although Mahindra has not explicitly disclosed the reasons behind this substantial order backlog, it is evident that deliveries are being delayed due to global socio-economic factors such as international conflicts and supply chain constraints. The impact of these external factors is causing challenges in meeting customer expectations and fulfilling orders in a timely manner. Customers awaiting the delivery of Mahindra models may experience extended waiting times, and the company has not provided specific details regarding the resolution of this situation.
