The Japanese automaker, Honda has introduced the WR-V in its home country a model that shares similarities with the Elevate SUV. However, it’s crucial to note that the Japanese version differs from the one available in Malaysia, being based on the India-spec Elevate with an identical design and powertrain.
Exterior Features
The WR-V boasts distinctive exterior features including a raised bonnet with a wide mesh grille, LED headlamps with DRLs, fog lamps, and squared-off wheel arches. The SUV rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and will be offered in three variants – X, Z, and Z+, with a choice of five colors.
Interior Features
While the new WR-V misses out on certain features like an electrically adjustable sunroof and wireless charger, it compensates with a range of other amenities. These include a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, Honda Sensing ADAS suite, lane watch camera, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, rear aircon vents, and a reverse parking camera with sensors.
Powertrain Details
Under the hood, the WR-V is powered by the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired exclusively with a CVT gearbox and this engine produces 119bhp and 145Nm of peak torque. Notably, in the Indian market, the Elevate is available with a six-speed manual gearbox as well.
With this debut in Japan, Honda’s SUV portfolio gains a new facet that combines performance, features, and design.
