Honda has decided to take on the Hero Splendor with a new 100cc motorcycle. Honda Shine 100 has been launched in India with an ex-showroom price of Rs 64,900. Bookings are now open; production will begin next month, with deliveries beginning in May 2023.
Honda intends to compete with Splendor with the introduction of the Shine 100. Honda’s new 100cc motorcycle will be marketed under the Shine brand. Honda’s top-selling motorcycle right now is the CB Shine 125, which is also the market leader in the 125cc segment.
Mileage and affordability are two key areas for Honda’s new Shine 100cc commuter bike. Honda claims that the new Shine 100cc has the best mileage in its class.
Honda’s Shine 100cc motorcycle is one of the most affordable in its class as the brand has introduced it at a lower price of Rs 64,900. While matching Splendor’s key USPs, it may cause significant churn in the entry-level commuter segment.
The new Honda Shine is built on a brand-new lightweight, long-lasting diamond frame. Honda is expected to focus more on rural markets with its new 100cc Shine. While providing best-in-segment mileage, the bike may have larger proportions than the Splendor. These are important factors influencing customer purchasing decisions in rural markets.
The new 100cc engine includes both fuel injection and a solenoid. It makes starting the bike in any weather very easy. It prevents the engine from starting while the side stand is engaged, allowing for a more comfortable and carefree ride. The CBS with Equalizer makes every ride on the Shine 100 comfortable and convenient.
It has a 97.2cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with a 4-speed gearbox. This BS6 phase II compliant engine produces 8 hp of max power and 8.05 Nm of peak torque. Aside from the Hero Splendor, Honda’s new 100cc bike will compete with the Bajaj Platina 100, Hero HF 100, and the TVS Star City.
