Hyundai has fully unveiled the new Exter’s exterior design, a subcompact SUV, which will go on sale in India in July 2023. The Exter is based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios and the Aura.

Hyundai will offer a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine with the new Exter. This petrol engine with a 5-speed manual or an AMT unit produces a max output of 83 hp and 114 Nm of peak torque. The Exter will also be offered in CNG trim with a 5-speed manual transmission system.

The Exter’s exterior design is characterized by its upright stance, boxy proportions, and sharp lines. The front end features a split headlamp design with ‘H’ shaped LED DRLs, a full-width black grille, and a 2D Hyundai logo.

The side profile is characterized by thick body cladding on the wheel arches and door sills, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a textured C-pillar finish. The rear end features squarish tail lamps with an ‘H’ lighting signature. A black contrasting trim connects the tail lamps. A number plate housing on the tailboard and a high rear bumper with a noticeable faux skid plate.

The Exter’s interior is designed to be spacious and comfortable, with a high seating position and good visibility all around. The dashboard is expected to be dominated by a large touchscreen infotainment system, and there will be plenty of storage spaces throughout the cabin.

The Hyundai Exter will come with a range of features, including 6 airbags as standard, a dashcam with dual cameras, an electric sunroof, and automatic headlamps. The safety features include ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill assist control, keyless entry, and rear parking sensors & camera.

Bookings for the Exter are now underway, and the car is expected to be launched in India next month. The Hyundai Exter is expected to be priced competitively in India. It will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
