Hyundai Raises the Safety Bar: 6 Airbags Now Standard on Grand i10, Aura, Venue

Hyundai the renowned South Korean automotive giant is taking a significant step forward in enhancing vehicular safety across its Indian portfolio. In a dedicated push for safety, Hyundai has recently announced that it will include not just dual front airbags but also dual side airbags and dual curtain airbags as standard features in all its vehicles and this commitment extends to even more budget-friendly models like the Grand i10 NIOS, Aura, and Venue.

All Hyundai vehicles come standard with six airbags

Hyundai’s focus on vehicular safety has led to impressive strides. The recently launched i20 facelift, for example, introduced 6 airbags as standard equipment even in its base variant,  but it doesn’t stop there. The i20 also boasts Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill assist, 3-point seatbelts, seatbelt reminders, and vehicle stability management, all contributing to a safer driving experience.

The Verna, Hyundai’s latest addition, has been awarded a prestigious 5-star crash rating in the Global NCAP’s test protocols. Moreover, Hyundai is committed to achieving a similar 5-star rating for the Exter, a vehicle yet to be tested by the soon-to-be-functional Bharat NCAP. Hyundai is actively participating in indigenous Bharat NCAP crash tests, underlining its commitment to enhancing safety standards.

The Venue, another model from Hyundai, now features 6 airbags as standard. Moreover, the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite and other active safety features are included. Essential functions including driver attention monitoring, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance, high beam assist, and more are included in this package.
Currently, the Hyundai Venue is the sole sub-4m SUV to offer an ADAS active safety suite. Hyundai is also updating the Creta compact SUV, equipping it with an ADAS suite similar to its Kia counterpart, the Seltos facelift.

Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and Aura get 6 airbags too

Hyundai’s commitment to safety extends to its lower-tier offerings as well. The Grand i10 NIOS hatchback and the Aura sub-4m sedan, both of which received facelifts earlier this year, now come equipped with 6 airbags as standard, including side and curtain airbags.
Under the hood, both the NIOS and Aura feature a 1.2L Kappa 4-cylinder NA petrol engine delivering 82 bhp of peak power and 114 Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options encompass a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Additionally, a CNG bi-fuel option is available for both the Grand i10 NIOS and Aura.

The Hyundai Venue also offers the 1.2 Kappa engine along with a 1.0L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, generating 118 bhp of peak power and 172 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual and a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) are available as transmission options. The Venue further provides a diesel engine option, a 1.5L unit producing 114 bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Diesel variants come with a sole 6-speed manual gearbox and do not offer automatic transmission options.

Hyundai is committed to providing cutting-edge safety features and technologies to its customers across all of its product segments as seen by its proactive safety initiatives.
