The first photographs of Harley-Davidson’s next motorcycle created in conjunction with Hero MotoCorp have emerged. It is an entirely new machine, and its appearance is extremely similar to the current-gen Harley products.
This new Harley-Davidson may be powered by a new 400-odd-cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine. The number plate visible on the bike reads Hd 4xx, which could be a hint that the engine capacity is greater than 400cc. With Harley’s legendary 883cc V-twin, this may be a 440cc single.
We do not yet know the output figures but given the relatively low redline, this engine will most likely prioritise torque and mid-range performance over a high power figure.
This appears to be a magnificent motorcycle with a commanding appearance. The bike appears to be influenced by the classic XR1200 roadsters. It has a big gasoline tank that flows down to the seat. This appears to be a roadster rather than a classic long and low cruiser in the images.
Such style complements the fact that this new Harley has a USD fork rather than a telescopic fork. The rear shock absorbers are more traditional, with progressive springs and piggyback reservoirs. It rides on CEAT Zoom Cruz tyres, the 140-section rear tyre can be seen in the image. The bike has Bybre disc brakes on both ends along with dual-channel ABS.
A round, digital display can be seen, albeit whether it is an LCD or a TFT unit is unknown. This new entry-level Harley features LED lights throughout. The LED headlamp features a horizontal DRL in the centre. While the rectangular tail light is reminiscent of the Yamaha FZ-X, albeit with larger round indicators.
We expect this bike to be released shortly, based on how close to production it appears in the images. We expect that when it is released, this new entry-level Harley-Davidson could come with a price range of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
