India’s 1st Honda Electric Scooter Details To Be Revealed On March 29

Honda 2-Wheelers India has officially announced that it will reveal its electric 2-wheeler plans for India on March 29, 2023. This info was made official at the launch of its new Shine 100cc commuter bike on 15 March.

Honda has not revealed the specifics of its first electric 2-wheeler yet but it is certain that it will be a scooter. We have discovered patents indicating that the company is developing an e-scooter based on Activa. Also, Atsushi Ogata, revealed at the Activa H-Smart launch event that the company will launch its first electric scooter in March 2024.

Honda will announce its official plans later this month. There is a chance we will see an early prototype version of this e-scooter. While the first model may have a fixed battery pack, Honda has stated that its long-term goal is to have models with removable batteries supported by a battery-swapping network.

The company already offers this in other markets with its PCX electric e-scooter. PCX uses a removable Honda Mobile Power Pack battery while the brand has established a company on our shores called Honda Power Pack Energy India. This company is dedicated to establishing and expanding the swapping network for these batteries.

Honda intends first to establish a new EV production line and then they plan to develop it at its manufacturing facility in Vithalapur, Gujarat. This has to be done in order to achieve its electrification goals. In the long run, it is expected that its Narsapura, Karnataka plant will serve as the headquarters for its EV operations.
