India’s Smallest Electric Car Production Begins – Launch Soon!

MG Motor India has started the production of their new electric car – Comet EV. It is produced in the Halol manufacturing complex in Gujarat. The GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) design underpins this two-door electric vehicle. When it arrives, it will be focused on urban customers and will be the market’s smallest passenger EV.

The characteristics and other details of the Comet EV have been published in fast succession in recent weeks. According to MG, the Comet EV is built on a robust steel frame to ensure a ‘high-quality vehicle body’. Despite its diminutive size, the Comet EV boasts a charming and futuristic look.

The front fascia has vertical twin headlamps and a huge MG badge in the centre. It also has a thin horizontal lighting strip and an air intake on the lower half of the bumper flanked by two lighting components. The front windscreen, roof and tall pillars are black-finished. It gives the vehicle a dual-tone appearance, and the wheels are sporty in design.

An upright back end complements the boxy proportions. The GSEV platform would provide ‘versatility and spaciousness’ and ‘ease of use’. It provides hassle-free manoeuvring on busy highways and effortless parking capabilities.

The MG Comet has a strong steel frame and 17 hot stamping panels that run across the body. The interior of the electrified Comet will be filled with innovations. In-car connection technologies are one of the key highlights. It will have a 10.25-inch head unit and a digital instrument dashboard. It will also have voice commands and a multifunctional steering wheel. It will come with an entertainment system with different-sized widgets. It is made up of three adjustable pages that provide access to navigation, and connectivity settings.

Speaking on the rollout of the first unit of the Comet EV, Biju Balendran, Chief Operating Officer, MG Motor India said, “At MG, we are committed to providing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions, and with the MG Comet we shall offer a futuristic and practical Urban EV with many fun-to-drive elements. With the first Comet rolling off the production line, we are delighted to welcome the beginning of a new EV future for India.”
