Luxury Cars Sales Report H1 2023 – Mercedes vs BMW vs Audi vs Volvo

According to the latest sales report, luxury car sales in India grew by 20.98% in the first half of 2023 (H1 2023), reaching 18,567 units. This is up from 15,347 units sold in H1 2022.

Mercedes-Benz India was the top-selling luxury car brand in H1 2023, with 8,528 units sold. This is a growth of 12.61% from the 7,573 units sold in H1 2022. BMW was the second-best-selling luxury car brand in H1 2023, with 5,476 units sold. This is a growth of 5.49% from the 5,191 units sold in H1 2022.

Audi was the third-best-selling luxury car brand in H1 2023, with 3,474 units sold. This is a growth of 96.83% from the 1,765 units sold in H1 2022. Volvo was the fourth-best-selling luxury car brand in H1 2023, with 1,089 units sold. This is a growth of 33.13% from the 818 units sold in H1 2022.

In terms of market share, Mercedes-Benz India had the largest share of the luxury car market in H1 2023, with 45.93%. BMW had a 29.49% share, Audi had an 18.71% share, and Volvo had a 5.87% share.

The growth in luxury car sales in India is being driven by a number of factors. It includes the increasing affluence of the Indian middle class, the growing popularity of SUVs, and the introduction of new luxury car models by automakers.

MINI automobiles performed well in terms of total BMW car sales. Sales totalled 391 units, representing a 3.17% increase. Volume increased by 12 units, compared to 379 units sold in H1 2022. 

BMW Motorcycle sales also increased significantly, reaching 4,667 units, representing a phenomenal jump of 50.02% year on year. Sales increased by 1,556 units from the 3,111 units reported in H1 2022. BMW India sales have increased to 10,534 units from 8,681 units in H1 2022. Volume increased by 1,853 units (21.35%).
