By The Mahindra XUV700 is expected to receive a set of new features, according to leaked information from the car’s manual. Since its launch in August 2021, the XUV700 has not undergone any updates, but it appears that Mahindra is gearing up to enhance its flagship model with new features and modifications early next year.
Presently, the XUV700 is offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, featuring bench seats for the second row. Notably, captain seats have not been available since the vehicle’s launch. Competing models such as the Tata Safari, Toyota Innova, and Mahindra Scorpio N, offer captain seats as an option.
The leaked manual information suggests that the XUV700 will now come with captain seats featuring individual armrests. These seats are reclinable allowing passengers to adjust the recline angle according to their preferences. Captain seats are known for providing enhanced comfort on long journeys offering better support compared to bench seats. However, choosing between captain seats and bench seats often involves a trade-off in seating capacity.
Another notable update is the addition of an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror. This feature will include an anti-glare auto adjustment on and off switch, featuring a sensor at the back, an indicator light, and a brightness switch. This functionality proves particularly useful when driving at night countering the glare from high-beam lights commonly encountered on Indian roads. The reflection rate automatically adjusts based on the ambient light intensity.
In the competitive market, Mahindra is likely to introduce several more features with the XUV700 to position it robustly against rivals such as the recently updated Tata Safari and Harrier, both of which have undergone significant changes in terms of features.
While these new features are anticipated, the engine options for the XUV700 are expected to remain consistent, featuring the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol motors. Additionally, Mahindra is actively testing an all-electric version of the XUV700, aiming for a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge, and this electric variant is poised to compete with the upcoming Tata Safari EV in the electric vehicle segment.
