By Maruti Suzuki will launch the Jimny 5-door SUV in India on June 7, 2023. The company has already received over 30,000 bookings for the SUV since its debut at the Auto Expo earlier this year.
The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 103 bhp and 134.2 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Jimny is a capable off-roader and comes with features like a ladder-frame chassis, a four-wheel-drive system, and a low-range transfer case. It also gets a ground clearance of 210mm and a water wading depth of 700mm.
Maruti is offering the Jimny in two variants: Zeta and Alpha. The Zeta variant will be equipped with features like LED headlights, LED taillights, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a reverse parking camera. The Alpha variant will get additional features like a sunroof, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The upcoming Jimny is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Jimny will compete with the Force Gurkha and Mahindra Thar in the lifestyle off-roader segment in our market.
It features automatic climate control, electrically-operated side mirrors, steering-mounted controls, and power windows. Mahindra and Force Motors are also developing five-door versions of the Thar and Gurkha to compete with the new Jimny 5-door in the Indian market.
