Sub-4-meter SUV crossovers are becoming more popular among Indian car buyers. Automakers are also devoting more attention to this market. Particularly when it comes to technological advancements and safety equipment.
In March 2023, total sales in this segment were 59,656 units. This represented a 7% increase from the 55,753 units sold in March 2022. In March 2023, MoM sales of sub-4-meter SUVs increased by 4.06%. In February 2023, sales stood at 57,329 units, rising to 59,656 units in the previous month.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the best-selling vehicle in this segment last month. It sold 16,227 units, 30.45% up from the units sold in March 2022 and a 2.79% MoM increase.
Tata Nexon sold 14,769 units last month, a 3.17% increase over March 2022. Nexon grew by 6.14% in the last month, from the units sold in February 2023.
Hyundai Venue sales increased 8.72% year on year up from the units sold in March 2022. The Venue saw a small sales increase of 0.27% MoM.
Kia Sonet sub-4-meter SUV sold 8,677 units in the previous month. A 26.28% increase YoY but it fell 11.78% month on month in March 2023.
The Mahindra XUV300 sold 5,128 units, a YoY growth of 23.86% and a 34.63% MoM increase. Nissan Magnite sold 3,260 units with a 10.81% YoY increase and a 49.27% MoM increase.
Renault Kiger and Honda WR-V sales have decreased year on year. Kiger sales fell 37.18% YoY and 12.99% MoM in March 2023. Honda WR-V sales fell to three units last month and the model was phased out of the company’s lineup.
