Maruti Jimny, an international best-seller, is set to be released soon in the Indian market. While the Jimny is available in the 5-door form in India, it is sold in the 3-door form in overseas countries. The 5-door variant can appeal to a broader audience, including off-road enthusiasts as well as purchasers with families.
Maruti Jimny bookings are now open at a nominal fee of Rs 25,000. Jimny production-spec has been sighted at a dealer yard in a video on Youtube. A full walkaround of the new Jimny from the dealer yard has been released by the Exploring Desi channel. Here are the live photos/screenshots from the video –
A tough front bumper and retro-styled round headlamps offer Jimny a retro compact SUV look. A chrome grille with vertical slats, a boxy appearance, and 210mm of ground clearance makes a stronger impression. The India-spec model of Maruti Suzuki Jimny travels on larger tyres with R15 alloy wheels.
Jimny finds it difficult to accommodate 5 adults comfortably. Four passengers (2+2) are good but five people in Jimny can cause a lot of shoulder friction in the back seat.
The 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine will power the Maruti Jimny. This BS6 phase 2 compliant engine produces 105 PS of max power and 134.2 Nm of peak torque. This petrol engine is offered with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission system. Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro drive system with low-range transfer gear will be standard on top-spec models. The Maruti Jimny’s fuel efficiency is yet to be revealed.
While the Jimny has received a lot of attention, Maruti has yet to reveal the price. With the Mahindra Thar starting at Rs 9.99 lakh, base-spec Jimny models may be expected to come at a competitive price.
