Maruti Swift Now Available for Sale in Japan and Expected to Arrive in India

Suzuki has recently launched the latest generation of its Swift hatchback in Japan, with plans to introduce it to the Indian market in 2024 and this new iteration offers consumers two distinct powertrain options and comes in three trims: XG, Hybrid MX, and Hybrid MZ.
Visually the new Swift features a redesigned front and rear profile setting it apart from its predecessor. The front fascia showcases a sleeker grille, updated LED headlamps accompanied by L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and 16-inch alloy wheels and the rear end incorporates inverted-C-shaped LED taillights and door-mounted rear handles contributing to the model’s refreshed appearance.

The Japanese variant of the Swift is available in an extensive range of 13 colors, providing consumers with various options such as Frontier Blue, Cool Yellow, Burning Red, Flame Orange, Caravan Ivory, Pure White, Premium Silver, Star Silver, Super Black, and variants with a black roof, including Frontier Blue with black roof, Burning Red with black roof, Cool Yellow with black roof, and Pure White with black roof.

Inside, the new-gen Swift boasts a revamped cabin design akin to Suzuki’s Baleno and Fronx models. The feature list is comprehensive, including a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, steering-mounted controls, six airbags, keyless A start/stop button, a 360-degree surround camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite are all standard features.

Mechanically, the global version of the Suzuki Swift offers two engine choices—a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol-hybrid motor. Transmission options encompass a five-speed manual gearbox and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Customers can also choose between front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (4WD) configurations allowing for versatility to suit diverse preferences and driving conditions. The model is anticipated to make its way to the Indian market in 2024 offering consumers a contemporary and feature-packed hatchback option.
