Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the facelifted version of its entry-level SUV, the GLA showcasing a blend of cosmetic enhancements and added features. Priced at an introductory Rs 50.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the GLA facelift maintains its position as an appealing choice in the luxury SUV segment.
Exterior Elegance
While retaining the core design elements, the GLA facelift introduces subtle refinements to enhance its visual appeal. The grille, headlights, and bumpers see slight tweaks providing a refreshed look without deviating from the model’s successful design language. The Progressive Line and AMG Line (diesel-only) trims feature new 18-inch and 19-inch alloys, respectively, adding a touch of sophistication. The rear, with minor tweaks to taillights maintains its distinctive character. The GLA facelift is offered in five colors, including the new Spectral Blue hue.
Luxurious Interior and Advanced Features
Inside the cabin, the GLA facelift continues its legacy of style and comfort. The central console sees revisions, with the removal of the touchpad to create additional storage space. The Progressive and AMG Line trims showcase distinct cosmetic inserts in elements like the steering wheel, aircon vents, and dashboard. New features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto high beam assist, a 360-degree camera, keyless entry, a powered tailgate with gesture control, and blind-spot assist. Existing features like dual 10.25-inch screens, cruise control, ambient lighting, and electric front seats with memory function are retained.
Powerful Performance
The GLA facelift offers a choice between two powertrains. The GLA 200 features a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 163 PS of power and 270 Nm of torque, coupled with a 7-speed DCT and front-wheel drive. On the other hand, the GLA 220d 4MATIC is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine generating 190 PS and 400 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed DCT and all-wheel drive. Both variants have seen minor adjustments to power figures.
Pricing and Competition
The pricing for the GLA facelift starts at Rs 50.50 lakh for the GLA 200 and goes up to Rs 56.90 lakh for the GLA 220d 4MATIC AMG Line. The facelifted model competes with rivals like the BMW X1, Volvo XC40 and the Audi Q3 in the luxury SUV segment.
The GLA facelift stands as a testament to Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to elevating the luxury SUV experience with a perfect blend of aesthetics, features and performance.
