The Mercedes-Benz EQE was the first electric SUV to receive an AMG variant, but starting on September 15, we’ll receive the basic model.
- On September 15, Mercedes-Benz EQE will make its debut in India.
- Receives a variety of powerplant choices globally.
- EPA claims that the maximum range model has a 449 km range.
- It will be positioned between the EQS sedan and EQB SUV.
- Like the EQS sedan, the EQE may be put together locally.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE, which made its debut in October 2022 across the globe, is traveling to India. On September 15, the electric SUV will reveal itself, and a launch should happen shortly after that. It will be located in the portfolio of Mercedes electric vehicles for India between the EQB SUV and EQS sedan. Similar to the EQS SUV and sedan siblings, the EQE SUV is also available in foreign markets as a sedan.
Design
The EQE SUV has the same aesthetic as all contemporary electric Mercedes, with its ubiquitous black panel unit taking the place of the traditional grille. The bonnet line is defined by the LED DRLs that extend from the primary headlights, and the lower grille has faux air intakes on either side.
The EQE SUV has a neat side profile, with flat door handles that level with the shoulder line and up to 21-inch wheels that give the SUV a purposeful attitude. The back is where the ethereal, flowing surfaces end. The attached LED light strip reaches the back quarter panel and is stylish. Although this is an electric vehicle, the bumper’s design is a little perplexing because of the air vents that resemble exhaust exits at the base. The overall shape of the EQE SUV is sweeping, which contributes to its slick drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd for the 19-inch wheels version.
Cabin
Inside the cabin, the aesthetic quality of the EQE is turned up to 11. Like the EQS sedan, the dashboard is heavily populated with screens, with three different screens across its width, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.
The dashboard is flanked by the customary turbine-inspired vents, while the sleek central air vents run above the screen. Mercedes equipped the EQE with a “ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL Plus” air filtration system because it takes the EQE’s cabin air quality a little too seriously. Additional cabin highlights include a Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos (for surround sound that simulates a theater), a leather-free inside, and creature comforts like powered seats, four-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.
You receive a full set of driving assistance features, including lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and even parking aid, in addition to the standard safety features like multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ABS with EBD.
Powertrains
The EQE SUV is available globally with a variety of powertrain options from Mercedes. A 90.6 kWh battery pack powers a single electric motor that is positioned on the rear axle of the 350+ model. With an EPA-claimed range of 449 km, the configuration produces 288 PS and 565 NM of torque.
dual electric motor arrangement with an output of 288PS and 765NM is used in the mid-spec 350 4Matic. It is connected to an 89 kWh battery pack with a 407 km range, according to the EPA. The base variant’s 90.6 kWh battery pack is used by the top-spec 500 4Matic trim to power two electric motors that together produce 402PS and 858Nm. The EPA claims that it has a 433 kilometer range.
All of these variations enable DC fast charging, and a 170kW charger can recharge the batteries from 10% to 80% in 32 minutes. Although the AMG versions of the EQE SUV were the first for an electric Mercedes SUV, they are likely to be phased out after the launch of the ordinary SUV in India. It is also unknown which of these variations will arrive in India first, but given that it is an SUV, we wager that it will be one of the all-wheel drive variations.
We anticipate Mercedes to assemble the EQE SUV locally, as they did with the EQS, in order to keep costs down. If that occurs, the Mercedes EQE will compete with vehicles like the BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron for a price of around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
Price & Rivals
When the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is released, it will compete with the Audi Q8 e-Tron, BMW iX, and Jaguar I-Pace and is anticipated to cost north of Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom).
