MG India has commenced the testing phase for the facelifted version of its flagship SUV, the Gloster, in the Indian market and the spy shots of the camouflaged test model reveal significant design changes hinting at a substantial update for this popular SUV.
Exterior Enhancements
The front fascia of the Gloster is set to receive an aggressive makeover. Anticipated changes include a new blacked-out grille, sleeker LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), split LED headlamps, and a rugged bumper. While the side profile is expected to remain largely unchanged, there are speculations about the introduction of new alloy wheels and more pronounced wheel arches.
At the rear, the three-row SUV is likely to showcase a connected light bar design for its LED taillights. A rear wiper with a washer, a high-mounted stop lamp that is perfectly incorporated into the spoiler, and a dual exhaust arrangement are noteworthy design features.
Under the Hood: Unchanged Mechanics with Enhanced Performance
Despite the external facelift, the mechanical aspects of the MG Gloster are expected to remain largely unchanged. Presently, the SUV is equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that comes with twin-turbo and turbo options. Both engine variants are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and the facelift is expected to bring enhanced performance to this powertrain.
Anticipated Launch and Market Competition
Details about the MG Gloster facelift are expected to surface as the launch date approaches, which is speculated to be around mid-2024. The seven-seater SUV will enter a competitive market upon its release facing off against notable rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, and the Jeep Meridian. Following the much-anticipated redesign of MG’s flagship SUV keep checking back for additional information.
