New Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Alto K10 Receive Poor Safety Ratings

Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Alto K10’s car safety performance for both adult and child occupants fell short. The Alto K10’s safety rating is lacking. It is alarming that a car with such subpar safety features is still sold in the market. Adult occupant protection in the car is mediocre at best. It has marginal protection for both the driver’s and passenger’s chest and knees.

The footwell area is unstable and the car’s side impact protection is also lacking. It provides inadequate chest and abdomen protection. While the lack of side airbags exacerbates the problem. Even more alarming is the absence of critical safety features. Seat Belt Reminder is only available to front-seat passengers.

Maruti Alto K10 Received Only 2-Star Adult Safety Rating and 0-Star Child Safety Rating

The car’s child occupant protection is lacking with inadequate restraint systems and a lack of standard features. This increases the risk of serious injuries in the event of a crash. The manufacturer’s refusal to recommend CRS demonstrates its steadfastness during GNCAP tests.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been tested for adult and child occupant safety in the event of a frontal and side impact. The results of the tests revealed that the car’s protection for adult occupants in the event of a frontal collision is inadequate.

The driver’s chest provided inadequate protection, and the body shell was classified as unstable. Both the driver’s and passenger’s knee and footwell protection were inadequate. The lack of side airbags makes the vehicle even more dangerous in the event of a side impact.

Maruti WagonR Received Only 1-Star Adult Safety Rating and 0-Star Child Safety Rating

The car also did not perform well in child-occupant protection. The 3-year-old’s seat was unable to prevent excessive forward movement during the impact, exposing the child’s head to a high risk of injury. The vehicle lacks standard ISOFIX and top tether anchorages. When a CRS is installed in the front passenger position, the passenger airbag cannot be deactivated.
