Ola S1 Scooters Recalled To Fix Front Suspension Issue – Free Upgrade Offer

From March 22, 2023, a huge recall of Ola Electric’s S1 range of scooters has been announced. Ola realized front fork challenges and took the recall into effect. Half a dozen breakdowns have come up on this.

The new fork design is being offered by the EV maker for free to the owners of the Roostaceria bicycles. Later, they issued an official statement on their Twitter handle. “Recently the community was concerned about how safe the front fork arm is and we want to emphasise that that concern is unfounded,” the Bengaluru based EV maker backed by Soft Bank said.

In fact, we have upgraded the front fork design to be even more durable and stronger. The statement continued thus, offering our S1 customers the opportunity to upgrade to the new fork. The upgrade can be scheduled from one of Ola Experience centres nearest to them.

Ola Electric says, “All of its components—front fork arm included—are tested under extreme conditions and engineered with a factor of safety much greater than the ordinary loads on vehicles.”

For five months running, the manufacturer of the S1 range of electric scooters has topped the Indian EV market. From the picture above, we can already make out some key facts about the carmaker: Selling 1.5 lakh EVs in 2022, maintaining more than 16,000 units every month since October 22 and hitting an all time high of 18,282 units on January 22.

What the recall for the front telescopic fork of its S1 range by EV Makers means for analysts is a positive step. “The trust building move to correct course if their offerings have issues will build consumer confidence in the EV Brands,” said Subhabrata Sengupta, Executive Director of Avalon Consulting.
