The sub-500cc motorcycle segment is heating up, with the recent launches of the Harley-Davidson X440 and the Triumph Speed 400. Now, Aprilia is getting in on the action with the upcoming RS440.
The Aprilia RS440 is an entry-level supersport that is disguised using body panels from the RS660. It has a similar body line and a perimeter frame that houses a new 440cc parallel-twin engine. The engine is expected to produce around 40 horsepower, which should be enough to give the RS440 a respectable top speed.
The suspension consists of an upside-down fork setup at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by single-disc units on both ends, unlike the twin-disc setup on the RS660. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with road-biased tires. The RS440 is expected to come standard with many features. Like a digital instrument console, all-LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and switchable traction control.
The Aprilia RS440 is a highly anticipated motorcycle that is expected to be launched in the near future. While there is no official launch date yet. The test mule that has been spotted suggests that the motorcycle is nearing production-ready status.
Based on the test mule, we believe that the RS440 will be unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in November 2023. The motorcycle will then be launched in the international and Indian markets in early 2024.
The RS440 will compete against the likes of the KTM RC390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the sub-500cc segment. We are excited to see the RS440 make its debut. And we believe that it will be a popular choice for riders who are looking for a sporty and affordable motorcycle.
