Renault Bigster SUV Set for Grand Debut Later This Year!

Renault is gearing up for the global debut of its upcoming SUV, the Renault Bigster, later this year. This new model, showcased as a concept in 2021, is essentially a three-row version of the recently debuted all-new Duster. The global launch is expected in early 2025, offering a larger and more spacious alternative to the Duster.

Design and Dimensions

  • The Renault Bigster will share design cues with the new Duster, presenting itself as an elongated version of the popular SUV.
  • With a length of approximately 4.6 meters, the Bigster is about 0.3 meters longer than the new Duster, providing additional cabin space and a third row of seating.

Interior Features

  • While sharing the rugged looks and interior elements with the Duster, the Bigster will offer more upmarket materials and additional creature comforts.
  • The interior is expected to feature styling, tech, and equipment differences to justify its higher price tag.

Platform and Powertrain

  • The Bigster will utilize the same CMF-B modular architecture as the new Duster.
  • Powertrain options are likely to be shared with the latest-gen Duster, including electrified engines. The Duster currently offers a 1.6L four-cylinder petrol hybrid, a 130hp 1.2L three-cylinder turbo-petrol with a 48V starter motor, and a 1.0L petrol-LPG option in some markets.

Off-Road Capabilities

  • The off-road gear, such as 4×2 and 4×4 options, available on the new Duster is expected to be retained in the Bigster. The Duster features terrain modes like Auto, Snow, Mud/Sand, off-road, and Eco.

India Launch Timeline

  • The new Duster is set to make a comeback in India in the second half of 2025, following a fresh investment of around Rs 4,000 crore by the Renault-Nissan Group.
  • The India launch of the Bigster will follow the introduction of the five-seat Duster, indicating a subsequent timeline for the three-row SUV.

The Renault Bigster’s global debut and subsequent launch highlight Renault’s strategy to expand its SUV lineup and cater to diverse customer preferences. With an emphasis on spacious interiors, advanced features, and off-road capabilities, the Bigster aims to carve a niche in the competitive SUV market. The introduction of these models in India is anticipated to contribute to Renault’s presence in the country’s growing SUV segment.
