Royal Enfield has announced a price hike for its flagship 650cc twins, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The price hike came into effect from June 1, 2023.
The Interceptor 650 has been hiked by Rs 2,844 to Rs 3,02,418, while the Continental GT 650 has been hiked by Rs 2,845 to Rs 3,18,417. The price hike comes after the government increased the excise duty on motorcycles by 3%.
The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled engine. This engine with a 6-speed manual transmission produces a max power of 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque.
The Interceptor 650 is a retro-styled motorcycle that is known for its comfortable ride and easy handling. The Continental GT 650 is a cafe racer that is known for its stylish looks and sporty performance.
Despite the price hike, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 remain the most affordable 650cc motorcycles in India. They are also one of the most popular motorcycles in India, with over 1 lakh units sold since their launch in 2018.
Royal Enfield has said that the price hike is necessary to offset the rising cost of raw materials and other expenses. The company has also said that it is committed to providing its customers with the best possible value for money.
The new prices for the RE Interceptor 650 are as follows:
- Canyon Red and Cali Green: Rs 3.03 lakh
- Black Pearl and Sunset Strip: Rs. 3.11 lakh
- Black Ray and Barcelona Blue (Alloy Wheels): Rs 3.21 lakh
- Mark 2: Rs. 3.31 lakh
The new prices for the RE Continental GT 650 are as follows:
- Rocker Red and British Racing Green: Rs. 3.19 lakh
- Dux Deluxe: Rs. 3.29 lakh
- Slipstream Blue and Apex Grey (Alloy Wheels): Rs. 3.39 lakh
- Mr Clean: Rs. 3.45 lakh
