By It is well known that Royal Enfield is developing a number of new models that will be offered in the near future. A retro-styled scrambler with the same 648 cc parallel-twin engine as the Interceptor and Continental GT will be part of this lineup.
The upcoming motorcycle may be dubbed the Interceptor Bear 650 when it is made, according to a recently discovered trademark document filed by Royal Enfield’s parent company Eicher Motors in Australia and New Zealand.
The scrambler may use parts from the current Interceptor 650, including the chassis and fuel tank, according to the last test mule seen. This only serves to confirm rumours that the motorcycle will be part of the Interceptor model lineup and will most likely bear the nametag “Interceptor Bear 650,” as indicated in the trademark application.
A few details about the motorcycle’s mechanical setup have come to light through sightings over time, including the fact that it will have USDs like its touring sibling, the Super Meteor 650. The test mule also featured a new side-mounted two-in-one exhaust system rather than the dual exhaust system found on all of the brand’s other 650 motorcycles. To help the bike handle rough terrain, the test mule also had spoked wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres.
The 648cc air and oil-cooled parallel-twin engine produces 52.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,650 rpm and 46.4 bhp of max power at 7,250 rpm. The engine will be coupled to a 6-speed transmission system.
Although there is no official information available regarding the motorcycle’s launch schedule, we anticipate that it will be announced soon followed by a launch that could happen as early as 2024.
