Sales Performance of 300cc to 500cc Motorcycles in February 2024

The 300cc to 500cc motorcycle segment is currently witnessing a major upheaval, with a surge of enthusiasts upgrading from their first bikes to this segment with higher aspirations. The segment is set to become even more diverse with the recent launch of the Jawa 350 and upcoming models from Yezdi, Honda, Triumph, Hero, and Royal Enfield. These new offerings are expected to cater to a wider range of preferences in the market.

Segment Dominance by Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield continues to dominate the 300cc to 500cc motorcycle segment, holding a staggering 83.21% share of total sales. The Classic 350 remains a top performer for the brand, selling 28,310 units in February 2024, marking a 3.09% year-over-year (YoY) growth. Additionally, the Bullet 350 and Hunter 350 models performed well, with sales figures of 13,944 and 12,122 units, respectively. The Meteor 350 also witnessed a significant uptick in sales with 8,125 units sold, representing a notable 21.3% YoY growth.

Performance of Other Players

Jawa/Yezdi

Jawa and Yezdi, although not matching Royal Enfield’s sales figures, still managed to sell 2,556 units last month. In an effort to take an increasing share of the market the corporation has big plans to add additional products to its lineup. Jawa/Yezdi is still committed to making a bigger impact in the mid-size motorcycle industry even in the context of strong competition.

Harley-Davidson X440

Harley-Davidson X440 experienced a decline in sales, selling 2,219 units with a significant 33.74% month-over-month (MoM) decline. In order to recover market share the corporation might need to review its product and marketing strategies in light of this decrease. Harley-Davidson might need to innovate and introduce new features or models to attract buyers and stay competitive in the segment.

Honda Highness

Honda’s H’ness showed promising performance, selling 2,072 units. The model has been well-received by enthusiasts, evident from its remarkable 549.33% year-over-year (YoY) increase in sales. This increase highlights the model popularity and Honda’s capacity to satisfy Indian customer tastes. The success of the H’ness is a testament to Honda’s dedication to producing high-quality goods that appeal to consumers.

Honda CB350

Honda’s CB350 also performed well, selling 1,784 units. While not as high as the H’ness, it still demonstrates Honda’s ability to compete in the mid-size motorcycle segment. The way the CB350 performs suggests that there is a consistent market for Honda’s products in this segment. Customers searching for high-quality motorcycles are drawn to Honda because of its reputation for dependability and performance.

Overall Segment Performance

The mid-size motorcycle segment saw a total of 77,860 units sold in February 2024, marking a notable 13.38% year-over-year (YoY) growth. However, there was a 5.50% month-over-month (MoM) decline compared to January 2024. The segment continues to draw a sizable number of purchasers despite the minor decline in sales from the previous month demonstrating the rising popularity of mid-size motorcycles in India.

With a diverse range of motorcycles available in the 300cc to 500cc segment, consumers have more choices than ever before. As the market grows and new models are introduced, it appears that mid-size motorbikes in India have a promising future as long as they can continue to meet the evolving needs and preferences of fans. Competition is predicted to heat up as new competitors enter the market and those that are already there grow the range of products they provide. This will eventually translate into more cutting-edge and feature-rich motorcycles for customers.
