Skoda India to Export CKD Kits of Kushaq and Slavia to Vietnam

Skoda Auto has showcased a robust global performance with a significant portion of its production originating from its operations in India. Among the total units manufactured, 52,000 vehicles were produced in India. Additionally, the Pune facility contributed to the production of 48,000 units for the Kushaq and Slavia models, while the Aurangabad plant manufactured 4,400 units for the Superb, Octavia, and Kodiaq models.

Skoda Auto’s global output is 5.85% of its overall production in India which highlights the importance of Indian operations in the company’s industrial environment.

As part of its strategic plan Skoda Auto plans to expand globally by utilizing its activities in India and vietnam is therefore a vital entry point into the ASEAN region, and the company has identified India as a crucial export hub. Skoda Auto CEO Klaus Zellmer had previously announced plans to use Vietnam as a springboard for the company’s ASEAN market entry, with India playing a pivotal role in supporting export activities.

In September 2023, Skoda Auto officially commenced operations in Vietnam, marking a key milestone in its global expansion strategy. The company plans to export completely knocked down (CKD) kits from Pune to Vietnam, further solidifying India’s role as a central hub for Skoda Auto’s international market outreach.

The recent establishment of a Parts Expedition Centre (PEC) in Pune further enhances Skoda Auto’s logistics capabilities. With 16,800 square meters, the PEC is a key location for the transportation of CKD kits for the Kushaq and Slavia models. Significantly, the building was awarded the esteemed platinum certification by the Indian Green Building Council signifying its dedication to green building practices that include water conservation, energy efficiency, waste minimization, preservation of natural resources, and the development of healthier work environments.

As part of its continued internationalization efforts, Skoda Auto marked its re-entry into the Vietnamese market in October 2023 and the corporation showed its dedication to growing its global footprint by going back to Kazakhstan at the same time.

Despite global challenges, Skoda Auto achieved commendable sales figures with 48,755 units sold in 2023 and this followed a record-breaking performance in 2022, where the company sold 53,721 cars showcasing its resilience and sustained market presence.
