Suzuki’s Latest Motorcycle Unveilings at EICMA 2023

Introduction

With the introduction of two much-awaited models at EICMA 2023the GSX-8R sportbike and the GSX-S1000GX sport-touring crossoverSuzuki has launched an exciting foray into the motorcycle industry. These new bikes provide distinctive riding sensations, with the GSX-S1000GX providing a sporty crossover sensation and the GSX-8R sporting a sleek design. In order to show the distinctions between these two bikes and their possible advantages for motorcycle enthusiasts, we have examined their features and technical specifications in this piece.

GSX-8RA New Middleweight Sportbike

The GSX-8R is a fresh addition to Suzuki’s lineup, falling into the sportbike category. It’s built around Suzuki’s new 776cc engine platform, which is the same one found in the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800 models. While the exact power figures for the GSX-8R haven’t been disclosed, we can reasonably expect it to perform similarly to its naked counterpart, which boasts 82 horsepower and 78 Newton meters of torque. Suzuki has retained most of the essential components from the GSX-8S, including the electronic systems.

What sets the GSX-8R apart is its striking design. It features an eye-catching full fairing that doesn’t compromise on rider comfort. Unlike many other sportbikes, the GSX-8R employs a conventional tubular handlebar instead of specialized clip-on handlebars. It’s slightly heavier than the GSX-8S, weighing in at 208 kilograms. Regarding its availability in India, it remains uncertain, as none of the 776cc-engine Suzukis have been introduced there yet.

GSX-S1000GXA 1000cc Sporty Crossover

The GSX-S1000GX belongs to the same family as the GSX-S1000 GT sport-tourer, sharing the main frame and engine. However, the GX distinguishes itself with a taller stance, a robust subframe, and a brand-new Showa electronic suspension system. Notably, Suzuki has introduced an innovative feature called Active Damping Control, which offers riders three preset settings for different riding experiences (Hard, Medium, Soft), along with a fully customizable User mode. What’s even more impressive is that the GX becomes the first model in the GSX-S series to include cornering ABS and traction control, thanks to a sophisticated six-axis IMU.

Much like the GSX-8R, the availability of the GSX-S1000GX in the Indian market remains uncertain. If it does make its way to India, it will likely compete with other similar bikes, such as the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the BMW S 1000 XR.
