Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially teased a new variant of its popular CB350 model, and it is expected to be named CB350 BABT. The preview which was posted on social media excites devotees by revealing some significant modifications in the next model. The CB350 BABT is likely to be a neo-retro cafe racer, combining elements of a bobber and a cafe racer, targeting a younger audience. The official launch of this new variant is anticipated in the coming days.
Key details from the teaser video include cosmetic changes such as front telescopic forks with a silver finish, Nissin brake calipers, and a split seat setup with silver highlights. While the overall design is expected to remain similar to the standard CB350, these subtle cosmetic enhancements aim to give the CB350 BABT a distinct appearance and the teaser video suggests an appealing mix of a bobber and cafe racer potentially attracting a new set of buyers. The exact meaning of “BABT” remains unknown, but it is expected to gain relevance once the bike is officially launched.
The CB350 BABT will be powered by the same reliable 348.36cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine featured in the standard CB350 and this engine produces a peak power of 21 PS and a peak torque of 30 Nm, paired with a 5-speed transmission. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), a USB phone charging port, LED lights, and a slipper assist clutch will all be retained in the new model. Dual-channel ABS will be standard on the CB350 BABT and primary competitors for this new variant include the Jawa 42, Yezdi Roadster, and Royal Enfield Classic 350.
In terms of design, the CB350 BABT showcases a blacked-out theme with tank grips and metal fork covers, resembling the Classic 350. The fuel tank design appears more rounded compared to the H’ness CB350 and the CB350RS. The upcoming 350cc retro-roadster from Honda is expected to hit the market in the coming weeks, with an estimated price tag of around Rs 2.2 lakh (ex-showroom) and this new variant aims to refresh the neo-retro bike segment offering a different aesthetic appeal and attracting a wider audience.
