The upcoming 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is set to introduce an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite with leaked information indicating that this feature will be limited to the top-spec X-Line trim. This makes Sonet the second model in its segment to offer ADAS following the Hyundai Venue.
The Level-1 ADAS suite for the Sonet is expected to encompass a comprehensive range of features including forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, Leading departure alert, lane departure warning, high beam assist, and driver attentiveness warning. However, the leaked document reveals that these advanced safety features will be limited to the X-Line variant requiring potential buyers to opt for this specific trim to access the ADAS technology. Notably, this choice also restricts the color options to the X-Line exclusive Matte Graphite hue for those desiring the ADAS suite.
Despite this limitation, the facelifted Sonet is anticipated to introduce several new features, with a highlight being the inclusion of a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Additionally, features such as the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8-speaker Bose sound system, connected car technology, wireless phone charger, and automatic climate control are expected to be retained from the current model.
The powertrain options for the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift will remain consistent with the existing lineup, featuring a naturally aspirated petrol engine, a turbocharged petrol engine, and a diesel engine. The leaked document further indicates that the diesel engine will now offer a manual transmission option alongside the existing iMT and 6-speed AT choices.
Unofficial bookings for the facelifted Sonet have already commenced at select dealerships generating anticipation for its official debut scheduled for December 14. Pricing details are expected to be disclosed in early 2024 with a marginal premium anticipated over the starting price of the current model, which stands at Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2024 Kia Sonet will continue to compete in the fiercely contested subcompact SUV segment against rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite.
