Volkswagen is all set to launch the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition in India today. This special edition model is part of Volkswagen’s announcement for exclusive variants within the Taigun and Virtus line-up. It is based on the GT trim and is expected to come with a premium of around Rs 30,000 compared to the standard GT trim.
Cosmetic Enhancements for an Outdoorsy Vibe
The Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition focuses on cosmetic enhancements to give it a fresh and rugged look. Special decals on the rear fenders, doors, and C-pillar are among the modifications. For an outside vibe, practical roof rails are also included. Additionally, it features blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and a ‘Trail’ badge on the tailgate. This edition is likely to be available in Carbon Steel Grey, Deep Black Pearl, and Candy White exterior colors.
Interior Updates
Inside, the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition introduces updates to the seat upholstery, with black leatherette seats featuring red contrast stitching and ‘Trail’ embossing. It may also include metal foot pedals similar to those found in the GT Plus trim. The equipment list remains unchanged from the GT trim, offering a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless phone connectivity, automatic headlights, a reversing camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). However, it won’t have ventilated and powered front seats, a sunroof, cruise control, a fully digital instrument cluster, full LED headlights, or six airbags available on the higher-spec GT Plus trim.
Powerful Engine
Under the hood, the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition will be powered by a 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine generating 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It’s expected to come with both a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Upcoming Special Editions
Volkswagen has also previously revealed a Sport Edition of the Taigun, which, as the name implies, will come with sporty cosmetic enhancements.
