As per one of the recent updates, Ather Energy is planning to launch a more affordable version of the Ather 450X scooter. Because the price is so important, the future Ather 450S model is expected to lack a number of the cutting-edge capabilities offered by the current 450X Pro Pack variant.
Yet those with tight budgets shouldn’t be constrained by it. Several amenities, like the full-colour 7-inch TFT touchscreen display, are not really necessary. Onboard the ordinary 450X, Ather has already installed a greyscale panel in place of the colour one.
It may be desired to include features like music and call access, 4G connectivity, hill assist, a guide-me-home light, and park assist. The regular 450X model no longer has these characteristics. For the 450S model to be priced reasonably, more features can be dropped.
Along with the lack of features and technology, the new Ather 450S base variant is anticipated to receive a tubular frame rather than the aluminium space frame of the 450X. A smaller battery pack and a weaker motor will also be added. This will enable Ather to aggressively price its new 450S base model.
Manufacturers can consider deleting extraneous functions and switching to battery packs with a smaller capacity. Although the range will be reduced, most purchasers will see the price advantage favourably. Also, the nation’s charging infrastructure is advancing quickly. Users would be less concerned about range and becoming stranded if they knew there was a charging station nearby.
The pricing of the upcoming Ather 450S model may be less than Rs 1.50 lakh. The cost of the current 450X and 450X Pro Pack models is Rs 1,71,879. While the state subsidy for Ather scooters in Delhi is Rs 18,300, the central subsidy available for Ather under FAME II is Rs 55,500. If the cost of Ather’s new 450S model is assumed to be Rs 1.50 lakh, the effective ex-showroom price in Delhi would be around Rs 76,000. That is essentially identical to what Activa offers. There will be additional fees for things like registration, road tax, and insurance.
