What to Expect from the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401

Husqvarna India is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated 400cc offering, with the Svartpilen 401 being the potential first product in the lineup. According to insider information, the debut is expected to take place in January 2024. The Svartpilen 401 has been spotted undergoing testing providing enthusiasts with a glimpse of what to expect from this robust and adventure-ready motorcycle.

Rugged Design

The exterior design of the 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 exudes a rugged and muscular aesthetic. Test mules have unveiled key features, including a distinctive round LED headlight, a muscular fuel tank with pronounced edges protruding from the top, a tank rack, a split seat configuration, and a single-piece grab rail. Notably, the new model is anticipated to feature an underbelly exhaust, a departure from the 2023 model sold internationally.

KTM-shared Engine

Husqvarna motorcycles have a history of sharing engines with KTM, and the Svartpilen 401 continues this trend. Powered by the new KTM 390 Duke’s 399cc single-cylinder engine, it is expected to deliver the same impressive performance figures of 45bhp and 39Nm. While the bike will come equipped with a six-speed gearbox, it may not incorporate the Duke’s bi-directional quick-shifter.

Purposeful Hardware

The Svartpilen 401 is anticipated to feature purposeful hardware, evident in its USD front forks and offset mono-shock. The braking system is expected to include front and rear discs with dual-channel ABS, mounted on 17-inch wheels. The choice between spoke wheels or alloys as standard remains unknown, but given the Svartpilen’s scrambler nature, spoke wheels with block-pattern tires wouldn’t be surprising.

Decent Features

Husqvarna aims to equip the Svartpilen 401 with a range of features, including full LED illumination, dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety, a side stand sensor for convenience, and a digital console. While the console is likely to be an LCD instead of a TFT display, this decision contributes to keeping costs relatively low. The motorcycle may skip smartphone connectivity but could incorporate ride-by-wire technology for added convenience.

Asking Price

In terms of pricing, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is expected to be competitively priced between Rs. 2.65 – 2.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This positioning makes it approximately Rs. 40,000 more affordable than its KTM counterpart, the 390 Duke. Once launched, the Svartpilen 401 will enter the market as a formidable rival to motorcycles like the Yezdi Scrambler, Triumph Scrambler 400 X, and the Royal Enfield Scram 411. Enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate the arrival of this adventure-ready Husqvarna offering.
