Yamaha MT-03 Hits the Market with a Launch Price of Rs 4.60 Lakh

Yamaha has officially launched the MT-03, a highly anticipated street bike, in the Indian market. Positioned at a competitive price of Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the MT-03 enters the Indian scene as the naked version of the R3, offering a more stripped-down and aggressive design. This pricing places it Rs 5000 below its fully-faired sibling, the R3, making it an attractive option in the street bike segment. The primary rivals for the MT-03 in the Indian market include the KTM 390 Duke and the BMW G 310 R.

Underneath its dynamic and urban design, the Yamaha MT-03 is powered by a 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. Delivering a robust performance this engine produces 40.4bhp of power and 29.4Nm of torque and the powerplant is mated to a six-speed gearbox featuring a slipper clutch for smoother gear changes and enhanced control.

Key design elements of the MT-03 include its distinctive naked appearance, emphasized by a street-focused stance. The motorcycle features 17-inch wheels on both ends supported by USD forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear providing a balanced and responsive ride. Braking is managed by single discs at both ends, incorporating ABS for optimal safety during braking maneuvers and the MT-03 is notable for its dual-channel ABS, LED headlamp for better vision, and LCD screen for a contemporary and intuitive interface.

Importantly, the MT-03 is introduced as a completely built-up (CBU) unit, imported from Yamaha’s facility in Indonesia. The bike is available in two striking color options – Cyan Blue and Black. While specific details regarding the localization of the MT-03 are currently undisclosed, it remains to be seen whether Yamaha explores localization options based on the response and demand for this exciting addition to their motorcycle lineup in India.
