Yamaha pleasantly surprised attendees at the 2023 Osaka Motorcycle Show with the introduction of a special edition MT-125. This Yamaha motorcycle came fully equipped with a variety of accessories that are set to be officially available in the country soon.
The Yamaha Blue color scheme of the limited edition MT-125 is eye-catching, and its windshield perfectly accentuates the bike’s aggressive design. The visual appeal is further enhanced by Yamaha Blue anodized adjustable brake and clutch levers. To provide additional protection, the crankcase is equipped with an aluminum cover. Moving towards the rear, the stock number plate holder has been replaced with a tail tidy, significantly refining the bike’s rear profile.
The standout feature of this special edition MT-125 is the full-system Akrapovic exhaust, complete with a carbon-fiber end can. Yamaha has also incorporated a traction control system and TFT console into this model. While these additions may sound enticing, there is a consideration that such features may be considered excessive for a 125cc motorcycle. It is anticipated that the international version of the Yamaha MT-15 will also receive similar accessories seen on this bike. However, it is unlikely that these accessories will be integrated into the Indian model.
In the global market, the Yamaha MT-125 competes with renowned models such as the KTM 125 Duke, Kawasaki Z125, Honda CB125R, and Suzuki GSX-S125. Yamaha already offers the MT-15 V2 in India, making the launch of the MT-125 in the country less probable. Currently, the KTM 125 Duke stands as the sole 125cc liquid-cooled bike available in India. Other sporty 125cc bikes in the Indian market include the TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar NS125, and Honda SP 125.
