Renault Kiger Achieves 4 Stars In Car Crash Test By GNCAP

Renault’s small SUV in India now receives a new safety rating from Global NCAP. The Kiger, which is based on the same platform as the Nissan Magnite, got four stars for adult occupant protection and two stars for child occupant protection. The Renault Kiger earned a 4-star rating for adults (12.34 out of 17.00 points) and a 2-star rating for child occupants (21.05 out of 49.00 points).

Global NCAP tested the baseline RXE model, which was outfitted with dual front airbags and ABS. Kiger’s structure was thought to be unstable. In addition, the Kiger has EBD, rear parking sensors, and impact sensing door unlock. Higher-end Kiger models include an extra side airbag.

Surprisingly, the testers found that Kiger’s bodyshell was unstable and could not sustain more stress. Its footwell area was deemed stable, and the amount of protection provided to adults was comparable to that of the Magnite.

Despite the fact that the Kiger includes ISOFIX child seat anchoring hooks in the back, it lost points in the child occupant protection test because they were unmarked and covered up by seat fabric, making them invisible to typical consumers. As a result, in the test, the child seat was only restrained by the three-point seat belt, resulting in an excessive forward movement.
