Bajaj Chetak Beats TVS iQube (Sales Report): The electric vehicle segment has not taken strong roots in the Indian markets as of yet though the customers have indeed started inclining towards the greener technology for the sake of the environment. Ruled by Ather Energy for so long, the Bajaj Chetak Electric has finally climbed to the top of the sales chart of July 2020, leaving behind the TVS iQube with a considerable margin.
The electric two-wheelers are doing far better than the electric four-wheeler segment which is currently owned by big brands like Mahindra, MG Motors, Hyundai as well as Tata Motors. The e-scooter segment is currently the best market to invest in considering the sales factor as well as the customer’s interest.
The latest sales report for electric scooters includes TVS iQube which has been sorted on the second position after the Bajaj Chetak. The former has been able to register a total sales of 23 units in July 2020 while the sales number registered by Bajaj Chetak is far higher at 120 units.
The Bajaj Chetak Electric was launched in the market at a starting price tag of INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter is available to the customers in two trims namely Urbane and Premium, each featuring few distinguished quirks, though the overall profile remains the same.
Powering the electric scooter is a 4kW electric motor that is mated to a 3kWh IP67-rated lithium-ion battery that is capable of offering 5.47 HP and 16 Nm. The battery requires five hours for a full charge while the scooter is good for a range of 95 km on a single charge of the battery.
On the other hand, the TVS iQube is powered by 4.4kW electric motor mated to a 4.5kWh lithium-ion battery which makes the scooter good for 5.9 HP of maximum power and 140 Nm of motor-induced torque. The iQube was launched in India at a price tag of INR 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
