Royal Enfield Himalayan Beats Bajaj Dominar 400 and KTM 390 Series: According to the recent sales report of December 2020, Royal Enfield Himalayan has managed to surpass the total sales units of Bajaj Dominar 400 as well as the KTM 390 Series, which consists of Duke 390, RC 390, and the 390 Adventure. All these motorcycles are equipped with almost similar engine displacements while competes in the market against each other.
Royal Enfield Himalayan has been able to register 941 units in December 2020 and has witnessed an increase in the total sales by 322% when compared to the 223 units registered in December 2019. On the other hand, the Bajaj Dominar 400 sales units are limited to 411 units in December 2020 while the KTM 390 Series registered just 394 units. The combined sales number of Dominar 400 and KTM 390 Series stands at 805 units, which is less than the sales figure registered by RE Himalayan.
Royal Enfield is currently working towards increasing the sales further with its all-new Royal Enfield 2.0 program that will help the brand in increasing its reach globally. At present, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is available at a starting price tag of INR 1.91 lakhs while Bajaj Dominar 400 is available at INR 2 lakhs and the KTM 390cc motorcycles start at INR 2.61 lakhs. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
Powering the RE Himalayan is a 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine that is capable to develop a maximum power of 24.3 HP @ 6500 rpm and a peak torque of 32 Nm @ 4250-4500 rpm. On the other hand, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by 373.3cc, triple spark, 4-valve, DTSi engine that is good for 40 HP @ 8800 rpm and 35 Nm @ 6500 rpm.
The KTM 390 Series is powered by a 373cc engine that is good for a maximum power of 43.5 HP @ 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 37 Nm @ 7000 rpm for the Duke 390 and Adventure 390 while the RC 390 generates 36 Nm at the same rpm level. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.
