Suzuki Access Beats TVS Jupiter (Sales Report): Access registered 54,524 units in the month of January 2019 pushing Jupiter to the 3rd position at 51,300 units. Access 125 is now the 2nd best-selling scooter in India after the Honda Activa series. Honda sold 2.13 lakh units of Activa in January 2019.
The 125cc scooters were not that good in the sales chart a few months back but price hike for the 110cc models and decent pricing for the Access has helped Suzuki strengthen its market position.
Suzuki Access 125 rivals Honda Activa 125 and Hero Destini in its segment. Still, the price point for Access makes it a direct rival to Jupiter’s top variant. Access is more powerful, weighs decently good and comes with an ageless design that suits almost every personality.
The 125cc, single cylinder engine on the scooter is good for 8.7 HP and 10.2 Nm while the Jupiter comes with a 110cc engine producing 8 HP and 8.4 Nm of torque. The former comes with 101 kg of wet weight, making it seven kilograms lighter than the Jupiter and offering 1.8 Nm of more torque.
The ride quality is great on both the scooters as both are available with telescopic forks and offer 12-inch tyres. The alloy wheels are available as standard on the Jupiter while the top model of the Access comes with alloy wheels. The steel wheels are good for the base variant of the Access 125.
