We all know that Tata Motors was a leader in the 4W electric vehicle segment. Traditional manufacturers like Mahindra have already tried to gain traction in this segment but to no avail. With the XUV400, Mahindra re-enters this segment and aims to tackle the Nexon EV range.

FADA has released the retail sales data for India’s top-selling electric cars for the month of August 2022. Tata Motors again topped the charts in August 2022 with 2,747 units sold (Nexon + Tigor). With only 575 units sold in August 2021 and a volume growth of 2,172 units, Tata recorded an annual growth of 377.74%. Even Hyundai has sold Kona EV in huge numbers. With 69 units sold in August 2022, Kona has registered 475% year-over-year growth. BYD e6 is currently only sold as a CV and is a decent product from the Chinese brand. It sold 44 units in India in August 2022 and sold the same number of vehicles in July 2022.

In fifth place, we have electric vehicles from BMW. With iX and i4 in its arsenal, BMW sold 25 units in August 2022 and shows a monthly growth of 400%. The most amazing development in this segment is the Mahindra eVerito.
