The past year, 2021, was not so bad for the car industry in India. Despite some major challenges like the COVID-19 breakout, the semiconductor chip scarcity issue, or the highest waiting periods, there was a significant sale of cars in the country. The Maruti WagonR surpassed the Swift as the most popular vehicle in the country. With total sales of 1.84 lakh units, it held a 7% market share in the overall automotive market. Swift, which topped the list last year, has dropped to second place with a 9% increase in overall sales. The Baleno held on to third place, while the Alto took WagonR’s 2020 spot, which was fourth on the list.
