TVS XL 100 Becomes the Best-Selling TVS 2-Wheeler in India

TVS Motor's model-wise sales report for November 2019 is out and the sales figure for the XL 100 (Moped) has surpassed all other two-wheelers from the brand. TVS has been able to register a total of 1,91,222 units in November 2019, though witnessing a decline in the total sales by 26.5% when compared to 2,60,253 units registered in the same month last year. Surpassing the TVS Jupiter, the best-selling two-wheeler from the brand from past few months, the XL 100 (Moped) has now bagged the first spot on the list. It has been able to register a total of 57,550 units in November 2019 overpowering the Jupiter scooter by nearly 16,500 units. The TVS Jupiter has bagged the second spot on the list and has witnessed a total sales of 41,007 units in the same period. Comparing the Y-o-Y sales, both the XL Super and Jupiter have been subjected to an overall downfall in the sales by a total of 23% and 41% respectively. TVS NTorq is the only two-wheeler from the brand that has registered an overall increase in Y-o-Y sales by 32%. The Apache RR 310 has been able to bag a total of just 112 units last month while the Y-o-Y sales have declined for the motorcycle by 15% since the customers are eagerly waiting for the BS6-compliant variant of the motorcycle that is expected to launch in January 2020. It can not even be fitted with tubeless tyres until some brand starts manufacturing tubeless tyres for the rim size of the XL 100. It comes with a new, 4-stroke engine and may get the option of an electric starter in the future. The chances of tubeless tyres is still very low as they are actually required by many customers of TVS XL 100.

TVS XL100 would not return the same mileage as it now comes with a bigger engine, which was just 69.9 cc in the Super Duty XL variant. The moped was 2-stroke in its last version and now comes with a 4-stroke engine producing 4.14 BHP and 6.3 Nm of torque. Most of the things remains the same while the mileage claimed this time if 67 kmpl. It uses a 4 liter fuel tank and claims a 60 kmph of top speed. It comes with a price tag of INR 29,728.

The TVS XL costs INR 29,879 (ex-showroom Belgaum) and equates to INR 35,919 when calculated on-road. The moped is an excellent evolution of the Super Duty XL version as it now comes with a 4-stroke 99.7 cc engine producing 4.2 PS and 6.3 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a single speed gearbox and weighs just 75 kg. It comes with a 4 liter fuel tank, out of which 1.3 L is a usable reserve.
